A delightful and nutritious treat that combines the natural sweetness of dates with the crunchiness of nuts. It's a perfect choice for breakfast or as a snack. If you've never tried making date nut bread at home, you should definitely try this.

 

Ingredients

  • 1 cup pitted organic dates, chopped
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans work well)

 

Instructions

  • Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a loaf pan with butter or cooking spray.
  • Step 2: In a small bowl pour boiling water over the chopped dates. Let them soak for about 10 minutes, then drain the water.
  • Step 3: Mix the Batter, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add the egg and mix well. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the drained dates. Stir in the chopped nuts.
  • Step 4: Bake the Bread by pouring the batter into the greased loaf pan and smooth the top with a spatula. Bake for approximately 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then, transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Step 5: Slice the date nut bread and serve it with a spread of butter or cream cheese. It's perfect for breakfast, brunch, or as a tasty snack any time of the day!
